HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

woolfly

Woolfly is reached from a right turn off the Albourne Road. The ancient house was derelict over 40 years ago, but has since been rebuilt. In 1851, the occupant of the original farmhouse was 43-year old agricultural labourer Benjamin Tomsett from Woodmancote, his wife Charity from Amberley and their five children. In 1891 the occupant was 36-year old labourer Jonathan Backshall, his wife Mary and their seven children.
