From Nep Town in the south-west of the village to West End Lane in the north-west of the village, working clockwise, there were 6 pubs: (a) The Gardener's Arms (b) The Cat & Canary (c) The Bell (d) The White Hart (e) The Plough and (f) The George. Recession and other factors have reduced this over the last few years to just 4 - the Gardener's Arms became offices, and the Bell is now a funeral parlour. From beer to bier...
