upper Station Road
Church Street runs west of the High Street at the White Hart and becomes Upper Station Road when it hits the junction with Broomfield Road and Fabian's Way. When Upper Station Road reaches the Cat & Canary, it becomes West End Lane. When the railway line and station was first opened, what we now call Upper Station Road was just Station Road.

Upper Station Road 1: This black & white view was taken in the late 1920s/early 1930s and looks west towards the junction with Station Road. The Station Hotel, now the Cat & Canary, is in the far distance.
Upper Station Road 2: This old black & white postcard is titled Station Road, but it looks more like the junction in Church Street where Church Street meets Church Walk and Church Terrace at Pinchnose Green. More investigation needed...
Upper Station Road 3: A black & white postcard from the 1930s, with the photographer's motor bike and sidecar parked prominently in the picture. The Station Hotel would be just off the picture, to the left.
Upper Station Road 4: Another black & white view which also looks remarkably like the place where Church Street passes Pinchnose Green.
Upper Station Road 5: This black & white photo from the 1930s or 1940s shows the gate to either Henfield Place or Parsonage House on the left.
Upper Station Road 6: This view was taken about 2000 or so, when the Cat & Canary had become the Old Railway Tavern before returning to being the Cat & Canary again. It's a more modern view of Station Road 3.

Upper Station Road: A view down Upper Station Road - called "Station Road" in this photo from 1908. The Station Hotel is on the extreme left.

Upper Station Road: A b&w photo probably taken on a winter's day in the 1920s, judging from the telegraph pole and lamp standard to the right of the picture - but with horse droppings in the roadway.
