HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

 Miscellany 7 - notes

Withy shed: Used for storing reeds grown on the common for basket making. This shed stands at the end of the terrace of houses known as Basketmakers Cottages at the bottom of Barrow Hill.

BP Guild Christmas tree: The BP Guild's tree for 2015, in the usual place in front of Barclay's Bank.

High Street Christmas light: The High Street has about 8 of these lights, strung along both sides of the road, at Christmas time. A moderate display which used to be better some years ago. A photo from Christmas 2015.

Street lamp on the common 1-2: Two shots of a lamp on the Henfield Common North road - showing the whole post and the lamp head. Taken in January 2016.
