HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

downs link

Now called the Downs Link, this path was originally the railway line from Horsham to Shoreham, with a station at Henfield. Axed under Beeching in 1966, the track has become a well-used route for cyclists and walkers, and the station was built over by homes in a cul-de-sac called... Beechings.

Downs Link:
This section of the former railway line temporarily breaks at the junction with Lower Station Road. The path emerges by the side of the Steam Mill. To re-connect, cross Lower Station Road and walk up Station Road to the Cat and Canary, where the path resumes northwards. Taken in late March 2017.
