HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

byways & wakelands

Byways is located at the corner of Mill End and Windmill Lane - facing Rosemount. The house was built after 1900 on the site of an earlier house called Wakelands.

Wakelands: This is a black & white postcard of the old house called Wakelands. It seems to have been an attractive house with shingled tiling to the upper storey, but must have been too dilapidated to renovate. In 1901 the occupier of Wakelands was 50-year old milkman Isaac Trower and his family.

Byways: A photo from 2015 of the later Byways.
