18th July 2025
This building was the original premises of Barclays Bank. The house on the left-hand side of the modern Bishops Close is "Holmwood", the house and surgery of Dr. Holt and Dr. Squire, respectively. Dr. Squire was the last user of the house as a surgery before the present Barclays Bank building was built on that site in 1967. There was a flat above the ground floor bank premises, which now houses the Hawthorn Veterinary Practice.
The left-hand side of the building has been dry cleaning business, originally JD Cleaners and now Seasons.
