The White House - clifton house, clifton villa
The White House is on the common and, as "Clifton House", was a girls' school for a time. Alfred Pearse, a foreman tailor and cutter, lived at "Clifton Villa" in 1881 - and this is now the present White House. In 1901, the house was occupied by 57-year old farmer William Brooks and his family.
