HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

townmead

A document dated 1819 in the West Sussex Record Office mentions the sale of Town Mead - then currently let to John Ward at £24 per annum - by William Borrer to John Beckett. Is this the land now occupied by the modern apartments called Townmead (mistakenly advertised as 'Townsmead' by the developers)? Whatever the accuracy of this or otherwise, Townmead stands off Cooper's Way, behind the Evangelical church.
