swains farm
This farmhouse and the adjoining farm shop have been owned by the Hills family of market gardeners for many years. Public footpaths from the lane by the house run in all directions: north across the fields to Furners Lane, west through the woods on the common to Henfield, south to the main road, and east to Woodmancote. The farm shop is on the left of the main road to Brighton, just past the cricket pavilion, and the lane runs past the shop entrance and up to the old farmhouse.

Swains Farmhouse: The view from the lane - taken about 2000.

Swains Farmhouse 1-2: Two views of the house taken in early May 2016. The house appears to be empty and unlived in. The view here were taken from the lane which runs up past the house from the farmshop. I can't now remember where I took the 2000 photograph from, but it shows a different aspect of the house from these two modern pictures.

Swains Farmhouse 1-4: These views were taken in late March 2017. I walked all round the house to photograph it from all angles. Photo no. 3 shows the rear facade of the farmhouse.
