setfords solicitors, sustainables4u & G.W. Pearce
This solicitor's office was previously occupied by Sustainables4U, which sold environmentally friendly, mainly electrical good and gave advice on the use of such goods in the home, was for many years a gents' outfitters business run by George Pearce. George was a well-known character who, on quiet days, would stand on the shop steps and exchange banter with passing villagers who knew him. George retired some years ago and the business - still an outfitters - was sold but retained the name. Eventually, the constant raising of rents made the business unprofitable, and in 2013 the shop became Sustainables4U, a shop promoting sustainable energy and energy saving devices. This shop, in turn, failed to sustain itself and, after a few months of standing empty, became the offices of Setfords solicitors.

SHOPS 16
Sustainables4U: The shop never seemed to do much trade, and I don't think many people knew what it was for or what it stocked. It closed in early March 2016, when this photograph was taken, and is due to be Setfords solicitor's offices in September 2016.
