St. Anthony's Cottage
There are several medieval "hall houses" - a building consisting of a large open hall with a fire in the centre - in Henfield, of which St. Anthony's Cottage in the upper High Street is the oldest. (Lashmars Hall in Stonepit Lane is another). You can see the distinctive sloping side roof which is typical of these early houses. St. Anthony's was built c. 1390. The later, adjacent cottage is Red Barn.
The cottage stands on the east side of the High Street/London Road, on the corner of the entrance to the White Hart car park.
