springfield & Coombe Cottages (woodbine & trevince)
The turn of the last century saw building along West End Lane - a response to the existence of the railway - and the semi-detached cottages beyond Westlands, on the south side of the lane, were built in 1904. They were then called Woodbine and Trevince, and are now called Springfield Cottage and Coombe Cottage. Other cottages followed in 1911.
There are other, similar, houses to Woodbine and Trevince in this part of West End Lane, and it took me some time to make up my mind which were the originals. Examination of the doors, windows and chimneys led me to believe that they were the cottages that became Springfield and Coombe cottages. However, more information would be welcome.
