HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

miscellany 36 notes

Oak, Hollands Lane 1: This tree is reputed to be the oldest native oak tree in Henfield, at around 250 years old. The photo was taken at the end of June, 2019, while on a walk down the Downs Link from Hollands Lane to Stretham Manor. But...

Oak, Hollands Lane 2: Taken in July 2019 by a resident, and showing that the weight of the leaf-laden branch was too great for the joint with the main trunk. Let's hope it heals itself.

Danny's pond: The pond and the surrounding fenced off area are a wildlife sanctuary situated between the cemetery and Fawn Rise. This is a picture from early September 2019.

Spider: I drew the curtains one damp morning, and there was a garden spider, in the middle of its web, outside the window. Mid-September 2019.
