HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

Miscellany 18 - notes

Bluebells, Henfield common: A clutch of bluebells in a glade in the woods on the south side of Henfield common A photo from mid-May 2017

Lloyds Bank Closure notice: Lloyds closed down its Henfield branch in late 2016. A photo of the notice still in the window in late May 2017. Another example of how villages - even fairly large ones like Henfield - get screwed by nationally-based businesses whose only motive is a profit motive.

Borrer Bank: This footpath runs along the north side of the upper part of Barrow Hill. This view from mid-May 2017 looks towards. In the other direction, the path runs along and up to the start of the Lydds.

Ice cream cone, Stokes: Just a bit of fun - the large plastic ice cream cone outside Stokes newsagents in April 2017.

Graves and yews: A view of some of the graves and yews in St. Peter's churchyard, with the chimneys of Hacketts in the background.

Hot air balloon: This is a close-up of one coming low over the Wantley Manor area of the village on an evening in early June. See Miscellany 19 for the full photo in long-shot.
