King Fish is the village fish'n chip shop, standing next to Barnard's bakery at the northernmost end of the High Street. In the 1960s and 1970s, the only other chip shop in the village was even further up the road than this - in Flint Cottage, the very end cottage of the terraced houses on the west side of London Road - and run by a Scotsman called, inevitably, Jock. This chip shop closed in the 1980s. A few years ago, King Fish took over the premises previously occupied by Alan Jarman & Co., Solicitors.
