HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

the averys - the saddlery, S.C.A.T.S., henfield furnishings, gallery bn5

The building known as the Averys, is currently Gallery BN5, on the east side of the High Street in between Lloyds Pharmacy and Elm Lodge. The business opened its doors in April 2018 as a craft and art shop. Before that, the premises were occupied by Henfield Furnishings, a household goods shop which closed in March 2018 on the retirement of the owners. At the turn of the last century, it was a saddlery and harness business run by Tom Pierce. For many years it was the Henfield branch of S.C.A.T.S. - the Southern Counties Agricultural Trading Society - which is still in existence, though not in Henfield, and which changed its name to Mole Country Stores in 2014.
