flowers & spring blossom
The gardens and lanes in and around Henfield are filled with blossom and blooms, particularly in springtime when hawthorns fringe the fields and footpaths, and magnolias and azaleas mingle with apple and cherry blossom.

Magnolia, Lower Station Road: A photo from April 2017, taken outside a house called, appropriately, "Magnolias".
Blossom, Batts Lane: A photo from April 2017 showing white blossom on a tree by the wooden houses in Batts Lane - taken from Lower Station Road.

Cherry Blossom, Manor Way: Sprigs of a cherry in full flower, April 2017.
Azalea Blossom, Benson Road: A shot of azaleas in the side gardens, Benson Road, in April 2017.
Tulip flower, Red Oaks: I was chatting to the gardener in Red Oaks on an April morning in 2017 and spotted this tulip head, still speckled with dew.
Apple blossom, Benson Road: Later than much of the village spring flowering, this late April 2017 photo shows a sprig of blossom from an apple tree in Benson Road. The variety of apple is an old Sussex variety called "Crawley Beauty", and is a rather tangy eater or a sweet cooker. It makes delicious pies and crumbles.
Golden Choisya, Free Church: There are masses of yellow leaves and white spring flowers from two shrubs by the doorway to the Evangelical Free Church in the High Street.
