ELM LODGE
Elm Lodge was, from 1834, the home of Henfield surgeon Adolphus Caudle, and then his son Adolphus William Wisden Caudle, who lived there in 1901, aged 61. The family name is memorialised in the passageway known as Caudle Street, which runs from the High Street through to the back of Budgens and the village hall, down the right-hand side of Elm Lodge. It was used for some years by Samuel Tobitt for sales of furniture and antiques.
