CROFT VILLAS

Croft Villas is a row of six late Victorian houses in Church Street. In 1891, 1901, and 1911 the disposition of houses and occupants was:

No. 1: Empty.
No. 2: Alfred Page, 40-year old sergeant instructor and family.
No. 3: Thomas Peacock, a 40-year old tailor and wife.
No. 4: Isabella Standen, a 54-year old tailoress and family.
No. 5: Arthur Hodges, 40-year old Parish Clerk and Church Sexton.
No. 6: Marion Tate, 28-year old wife and daughter of 3 months.

1901
No 1: Harriett Jupp, 70-year old widow living on own means.
No. 2: Joseph Manville, 40-year old sergeant instructor and family.
No. 3: Harriett Dancy, 69-year old widow living on own means.
No. 4: Empty.
No. 5: Thomas Brockhurst, 44-year old grocer's shop keeper.
No. 6: Sarah Dowlen, 80-year old needlewoman

1911
No. 1: Empty.
No. 2: Annie Greenfield, with son and two daughters.
No. 3: George Pierce, butcher's assistant, two daughters and a lodger.
No. 4: Sarah Ann Temple, daughter and nephew.
No. 5: Stephen Fowler, retired butcher and wife.
No. 6: Sarah and Jane Dowlen.
