country views 16 - notes
Brighton Road: This view looks along the Brighton Road, with a view of the common, from the corner of the Brighton Road and Mill Drive. Taken in February 2017.
Batts pond: Strictly speaking this is not a "country view" as such, as the pond is at the junction of Dropping Holms and Batts Pond Lane, but it's sufficiently rural in character to be included in this section. Taken in January 2017, when a thin layer of frost was on the ground and a thin layer of ice on the water.
Backsettown field: A large field stretches from the path to Backsettown and along the north side of Furners Mead down to the back of the houses on Henfield common North. This is a view of the field on a golden but frosty morning in late December 2016, with some Furners Mead back gardens on the left.
Furners Mead twitten: An unmade road runs south off Furners Lane and curves left to become a private drive to Backsettown - House, not Farm. Leave this road and continue onwards through the narrow twitten which takes to you the south end of Furners Mead. The photo, from December 2016, was taken in the twitten.
Footpath to Dykes: At the south east corner of Furners Mead, the road becomes the drive into the grounds of Henfield Bowling Club. Just past the club house is a footpath which takes you past allotments and then along the north of the common to a house called Dykes. The footpath joins the one which runs from Furners Lane to the common itself. This view from late December 2016 shows the view looking west from the Dykes end.
