BARROW HILL
Barrow Hill starts where the most southerly end of the High Street joins Nep Town Road. The road winds south, past Broadmere Common, Oreham Common and Woods Mill, to Smalldole and Upper Beeding. A footpath runs alongside the first part of the road, on the left-hand side - the road is not a safe place to walk on - and the path at one point went up to Barrow Hill house, home of William Borrer and since long gone. The footpath continues on up to the Lydds.
STREETS 2
Barrow Hill 1: The hill in the snow in an early black & white postcard. Barrow Hill runs from Nep Town Road down towards Small Dole and Upper Beeding.
Barrow Hill 2: This is a similar view to Barrow Hill 1 but further back towards Golden Square and in summer. It would be difficult to take this view today without getting mowed down by traffic.
Barrow Hill 3: The footpath running up above and to the left of the main road is clearly seen in this black & white photo.
Barrow Hill 4: A view from the opposite direction - looking up towards Barrow Hill with the Basketmakers cottages on the right hand side of the road.
STREETS 11
Barrow Hill 1: A lovely photo of Broadmere Common from 1890 showing the bottom of Barrow Hill looking up and north towards the village. Barrow Hill Farm can be seen on the left of the picture and, dominating the landscape from the top right, is Barringer's Mill, high on the Lydds. The Mill House is just to its left in the picture. The man holding the horse in the centre of the photo is Mr. Silverson.
Barrow Hill 2: A scan of a postcard which, from the stamp and the style, is probably about 1915. The white house with the red roof on the right of the picture looks like Swiss Cottage.
Barrow Hill 3: This shows the cul-de-sac that runs up the left-hand side of Barrow Hill, beyond Barrow Hill Farm, as it winds up towards Springhills and the village centre.

Barrow Hill: A 1960s view up the hill from just past Dagbrook Lane, looking up at the back and side of the Basketmakers Cottages.
