HENFIELD THEN AND NOW

Baptist Chapel

This corrugated iron church stands in the private garden of a house in Blackgate Lane, which runs between the Tanyard and Nep Town Road. It was originally the Rehoboth Chapel and was opened in 1897. It closed in 1990 and was sold. I recently (October 2015) went in search of the chapel but couldn't spot it behind the parked van and gates. I suspected it may have been pulled down until a friendly villager pointed out there's a back view of the chapel from Hewitts. So it's still there, albeit with a window pane missing.

CHURCHES 6

Baptist Chapel: The chapel back, taken from Hewitts in early March 2017. The windows are broken and without any glass - as they have been for years - so we can only guess at the condition of the interior.
