The High Street (21-30)
HIGH STREET 3
High Street 21: A view from the side of what is now the Henfield Club down to the north end. Taken in the 1930s.
High Street 22: The opposite view from no. 21 - up the High Street looking south from just north of the White Hart. Probably taken in the 1930s.
High Street 23: Looking south from outside what is now Setyres, with the forge, Rus House and Magnolia House on the right-hand side.
High Street 24: In this 1930s photo, the camera looks north and down past the front of Norton House and the Evangelical Church, on the right, with Croft House on the left. Note the grassy verge outside Croft House and the large tree on the right - still outside the Plough in those days. The photographer's motorbike and sidecar are parked prominently at the side of the road.
High Street 25: A view south from Golden Square with the Merry Kettle tea rooms - now Aniseed - and what is now Trax on the left.
High Street 26: A view north from around spring 2010 outside the Assembly Rooms shops. The opticians is now called Henfield Eyecare.
High Street 27: This is from the late 1990s and is looking south up the High Street outside Barnards yard.
High Street 28: This was taken in 2015 and looks north from Ansty House. Taken on a Sunday morning to minimise the intrusions of parked cars and traffic.
High Street 29: Taken around 1997 and looking south and west up the High Street - early in the morning, judging by the shadows.
High Street 30: Another early morning view on a warm winter's day, probably from the late 1990s. This is looking north. Note that Greenfields greengrocers was still doing business in Jasmine House at that time, and that the whole of London House was a Vietnamese/Chinese takeaway. And the Video Box had taken over the premises formerly occupied by Bev's butcher's shop.
