HACKETTS
Hacketts now comprises the two, originally separate, cottages of Hacketts and Duffies and stands on the corner of Church Street and Church Lane. The two cottages seem to have joined and unjoined in various combinations over the years. In 1891, five separate households are listed as living in "Hacketts" - the Wards (two sets), James Winter, a domestic servant, the Batchelors and the Trowers. In 1901, it was much the same set-up, with two Ward families and a coachman called Joseph Pollard living there.
